Kamogawa Odori ("Kamo River Dance")
1st - 24th May
Annual spring time dance performed by the geiko and maiko from the
Pontocho hanamachi. The Kamogawa Odori was first performed in the
same year as the first Miyako Odori, 1872 and was so successful,
that it is still performed annually today.

Miyako Odori ("Dance of the Capital" or "The
Cherry Dances")
1st - 30th April
The Miyako Odori was first originally performed in April, 1872 and
has quickly grown into a world known and admired event, and as a
result, is still performed annually today. The dance is performed
by the geiko and maiko of the Gion Kobu hanamachi, in the Inoue
School style.
