Maybe I'm an old fashioned granny, but i find disrespectful wearing like this guys when you're going to a meeting with maiko or geiko. I mean, she is full dressed, they're in a elegant place and the boys look like they were going to the beach! It does'nt seem proper to me. I'm not thinking in "salaryman" suits, but maybe the classic casual, a plain shirt wit jeans... or even another t-shirts.
Perhaps you know if there are etiqutte rules for customers' clothing when visiting geisha?
I so agree. I know when you go to a teahouse, you're going to unwind, drink, and be entertained. But still, you shouldn't go as a slob! When you go to a nice Italian restaurant, to you wear sweatpants? No! When Peter took my husband and me to meet Toshiyui, I wore a dress and my husband wore a nice shirt and a tie. Later, when I met Miehina, I wore my nice yukata.
I like the mantra of TLC's "What Not to Wear": You can be comfortable and still be fashionable! Especially if you're going to meet a beautiful young maiko. She made a big eefort to look nice. The customer should make some effort, too.
Anyway, on topic: Mamechiho is really frickin adorable! She seems very outgoing and fun, too. I would looove to be entertained by her one night!
those are really beautiful pics and the video of mamechiho is really lovely :smil3: ... Is this some blog of maiko-fan??? (I dont speak japanese so I just can guess what it is about...)

Not really... if you look at the enlargement, she looks quite young... but very thinned out. Oh, and Mamechiho has green straps on her okobo, while her kanzashi aren't very senior and her obiage is wrapped!
Umechika, why on earth should you be sorry to post something from TsurukoMaiko?
I post things on here that I found on there all the time! And I know of others that do it also. Who cares. We are just sharing things, photos, information. It's not a big deal.
I just tought if it isn't rude or something.. Now I see it isn't ... mamehana is extremely pretty, I think if she didn't want to become a maiko she could become an actress or model :D

mauahahaha! Mamechiho's evil side So funny, she is so cute.
Mamehana without makeup is absolutely gorgeus, she reminds me of a younger version of my visiting chado sensei.
All you can do whatever you want with this photo - Ichiemi I really don't mind  =D  And ewoodham, show her and take a photo please I will be the happiest person in the world  :katana:

Hi everybody! So long time no see you all!  :content:
I have never seen a maiko (in this case, Mamechiho san) wearing brown furisode ^^. It suits very well to her. However, I think that Mamechiho's favorite furisode color it's violet, ne? I've seen her many times wearing violet furisode
Thanks for such marvellous photo! It goes to my "Mamechiho gallery"!

Mamechiho really is adorable. i want to have a tea party and invite all of the most adorable maiko and we can eat cake because it would be cute. Anyone else want to come?
LOL I know that seemed really random but I can't help it!
Akamatsu_Ayano The pic is great. Do you think, you could do something similar with a pic of Teruyuki? I would love to see, what she would look like with a katsura.

Quick request, folks -- does anyone have any pictures of Mamchiho from this month? The thing is, I could swear I just saw her walking into my hotel with a shikomi and two geiko (and if it really was her she was wearing that green hikizuri and white obi from the perfume ad and Akamatsu_Ayako's post) but her kanzashi looked a little junior to me -- not that I'm the best judge of the relative junior/seniorness of kanzashi....
I didn't get a picture or even get to ask her name. It was quite obvious she was going somewhere, and I didn't even have my camera at the ready anyway so any picture would have taken way too much of her time. I'm just kind of curious to see whether or not I can confirm my hunch in some other, less obtrusive way (though you can bet I'm bringing my camera when I go back downstairs for dinner, and if I see her again and she doesn't seem to be in a terrible hurry I'll pluck up the courage to ask for a picture).

You know where her okiya is, right? I won't go into details, but the okaasan teach their girls VERY specific routes to take when going from appointment to appointment. All of the girls in the east gion kobu okiya come to the west side from the same side street, see if you can find it

Aw man, I think it WAS her. Well, there's my brush with greatness, eh?
I kind of sort of know where her okiya is but I'm not exactly sure, and I can totally see myself wandering around Gion for hours trying to find it Is it something you're comfortable PM-ing to me, ewoodham?
So as you all know, Mamechiho's erikae is reported to be in November. I for one am very excited, I'll be there so I'll take LOTS of pictures for you all.

WHAT???!!! It's too soon neee. I thought that her erikae would be next year! T__T I hope she will choose being geiko. If she retires... I'll be so sad. I'd miss her TT___TT
PD: ewoodham, where did you see that new???

Momoyama says he heard it. But I believe it, she's of the right age.

^I do know what an erikae is. What I meant is that, when wearing sakko she'll definitely decide wheter or not she'll continue being a Karyukai member. So, it's a critical moment ne...
By the way, do anyone have a photograph of Mamechiho as a shikomi? I'm quite curious about it >_<

I have never seen one of her. Back in 2003, this community didn't have our shit together in the way we do now, nor did we have heros like Momoyama, Onihide, and Fuyou taking care of business over in Kyoto.
I adore the comb she's wearing, it's so much cuter than the comb Tsuruha and most maiko wear (it reminds me of fish...) Those photography sessions are becoming more and more popular!
I especially love the second picture that Toshiha posted. Mamechiho is soooo lovely! As much as I want her to stay a maiko forever, I'm sure she will be a true knock-out as a geiko.
The likelyhood of me getting to see Mamechiho during sakko or during erikae is slim, but at the same time I'm thinking I may just set aside some money to get to Kyoto that day. Please wish me luck, because I may just try
(Ideally I'd love to get an ozashiki session with her, anyone have any ochaya connections? )
