Oiran and Tayuu terminology

GothicBlossom:

I was wondering what the correct terms are for the Oiran/Tayuu equivalent of Okiya and Okaasan. Apologies if it's been covered elsewhere.
Any other information on similar equivalents would be very welcome, please. :coy:

PassionFruit Addict:

I already asked myself this question, i don't think there is a special word for the owner of a courtesans house. Or i've never read anything which specify it.

But the houses of courtesans were known as the "Green Houses" in Yoshiwara.

I found something that can interest you in The Nightless City ( i'm so happy to have it finally, this book is a treasure! :lovelove ).

In the book they say that the proprietor of a brothel can be called " Katsuwa ".
It's also another term for indicate a brothel.
In chinese characters it means " forget eight " apparently, because the customers forget the eight virtues: filial piety, brotherly kindness, loyalty, faithfulness, politeness, righteousness, integrity and the sense of shame.
